The Spiritual & Formation Centre
Was established to promote evangelization and provide opportunities for individuals and communities to deepen their relationship with Christ through a variety of activities and experiences.
Rockwood was boight in 1981 when it was known as a Hotel or tea garden. The story is told that Sekuru Chakaipa came for a meal and the owner was happy to have a bishop among his clients. Through that encounter, the process of selling the property to the Catholic Church started. It was believed that this was the work of the Holy Spirit hence the logo. 1982 saw the first group coming for leadership training. During that time there was one building which is to date part of the big hall. One of the participants of those training is a member of Maria Hosi YeDenga from Chitungwiza.
The centre was established to promote evangelization and provide opportunities for individuals and communities to deepen their relationship with Christ through a variety of activities and experiences.
In her 1997 annual report, the late Sr. Rocha Mushonga an LCBL, a former administrator commented on the increased number of participants especially attributed to the growth of adult guilds, Maria Hosi yeDenga, St Anne, St Joseph, Sacred Heart and Maria Mubatsiri weVatamburi. There was a need to extend the accommodation. An additional block was constructed to accommodate more people.

It was during this phase of development that the youth ministry was introduced. The main objective for this initiative included the following
- Fostering the total personal and spiritual growth of each young person
- Draw young people to responsible participation in the life and mission of Christ.
Initially, most of the young people in the Archdiocese of Harare belonged to the Saints, Agnes, and Alois Guild. Later more youth guilds were introduced and these were the Sacred Heart of Jesus, Simon Peter, and Mary as well as the Altar Servers.
